CROSBY, STILLS AND YOUNG

In the 1980s, I was answering phones at our newspaper, and someone called in a tennis match.

One duo in doubles was Crosby and Nash; the other two were Ryder and Young. They came really close to David Crosby, Stephen Stills, Graham Nash and Neil Young.

The interesting thing is that the girl calling in the match apparently had never heard of Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young. When I brought up the names, she said that meant nothing to her.

I thought of that long-ago memory recently after David Crosby's death.

BONUS: I didn't know it, but David Crosby was a member of another major group from earlier, the Byrds (Turn, Turn, Turn).
