Recognizing T'Pring and the lead Talosian

Holly (later my wife) and I were watching an old TV show (maybe The Twilight Zone), and two of the actresses looked familiar. Then I noticed a powerful Star Trek connection.

The older woman was Meg Wyllie, who played the lead Talosian in The Cage, the first pilot for Star Trek. The younger woman, I realized, was Arlene Martel, who played T'Pring, Spock's would-be wife in Amok Time.

I've noticed other actors who played in one of the various Star Trek shows, including the guy who played Surak (Barry Atwater) in one of the last Original Series episodes, The Savage Curtain. In another show, I noticed the actor who played Stonn, the Vulcan who had the hots (if Vulcans get the hots) for T'Pring in "Amok Time."

Am I patting myself on the back? Probably. But it happens often enough; and Holly does the same thing.

We were watching some show, and I remarked that the actor we were watching had been in a baseball movie. We looked up the cast for the show we were watching, and this was the guy (Frank Whaley) who played the young Archie "Moonlight" Graham in the baseball classic "Field of Dreams." (Burt Lancaster played the older Graham later in the movie.)

I just had a feeling.

UPDATE: I just recognized Mike Farrell (MASH) on a season 16 episode of NCIS. He was playing a judge.

UPDATE 2: I'm watching a 1965 episode of Perry Mason called The Case of the Telltale Tap, and I recognized Jeanne Bal, who played the human version of the salt monster in The Man Trap. That was the first episode of Star Trek that was on TV; it aired on Sept. 8, 1966.

Also in that episode, I recognized Linden Chiles (Banacek). He was the defendant.

UPDATE 3: I was watching THE FLASH the other day, and the voice of the villain Zoom sounded familiar. I told my wife Holly that Zoom sounded like actor Tony Todd (Star Trek: The Next Generation). I looked at the Flash cast, and Todd was one of the two actors who played Zoom.

UPDATE 4: Recently, I was watching one of my cop shows and I recognized a nose. It belonged to Elizabeth Dennehy, who played in the Next Generation two-parter called The Best of Both Worlds. Dennehy, the daughter of the late Brian Dennehy, played Lt. Com. Shelby.

UPDATE 5: I was just watching a Dragnet episode called The Big Problem, and I recognized Celia Lovsky, who played T'Pau in the Star Trek episode Amok Time.

Later, I recognized Georg Stanford Brown of The Rookies.

Small world.

UPDATE 6: I just recognized Atwater in a Perry Mason episode.

UPDATE 7: I've been watching many episodes of The Blacklist, and I've recognized everyone from Jane Alexander to Dianne Wiest to Alan Alda. I also recognized Frank Whaley (Moonlight Graham in The Natural) again. He's mentioned above.
