I was watching a YouTube video about politics yesterday and immediately recognized that a machine voice was reading the script. And the voice quickly reminded me that an algorithm won't necessarily read the script the way you or I would.
The voice talked about Lindsey Graham, AR-SC, and Mitch McConnell, Arky. It was reading R-SC and R-Ky and should have said Graham, Republican-South Carolina, but it couldn't know that. Same with McConnell, Republican-Kentucky. The machine saw R-Ky for McConnell and pronounced it Arky.
Is that a big deal? No. It was funny at the time, particularly Arky. Arky sounds like someone born in Arkansas.
So I thought it was worth mentioning.
