I'm still trying to formulate my thoughts on episode eight of season three of Strange New Worlds, Four-And-A-Half Vulcans.
When I learned earlier that some crew members would become Vulcans, I was leery. I didn't think it would go well. It was closer to a disaster than a home run.
I'm tired of funny or quirky episodes, and this was another one. I'm also tired of all of the relationships, and this one was a soap opera.
I hated the too-easy resolution at the end. There's a nurse's log saying that they're back to normal, and then Spock fights/dances with La'An, and everything is OK with them, too.
The Number One-Doug relationship was WAY too much, too far afield, although I was happy to see the actress (Rebecca Romijn) get to act a bit.
It's funny, but this episode made me like Captain Batel more. I liked to watch the relationship grow between Kirk and Scotty, but they were NOT friends in TOS. And that bothers me.
The worst thing is the way the "Vulcans" treat Spock; that's racism at its worst. And I hated Pike's hair and compete demeanor.
I can't decide on a number for this one; I still don't know if I like it or not.
MY REACTION
