PALADINS, SAINTS AND THUNDERBIRDS

Years ago, I saw the best episode of Have Gun, Will Travel that I'd ever seen. In the episode GenesisRichard Boone played two men, the man in the black outfit (Smoke) and the man who would become Paladin.

At Norge's direction, the future Paladin wanted to duel Smoke, who had an ominous cough. Paladin kills Smoke, then later realizes that he'd just killed a good man. So he took Smoke's outfit and became the black knight, Paladin.

Paladin takes over the man in black's spot on top of a big rock and keeps the bad guy, Norge, out of the valley. That's what the man in black had been doing.

Norge is played by William Conrad (Cannon), who also directs the episode. The man Paladin narrates his story to is James Mitchum; for a second, I thought it was his father, Robert Mitchum.

Mitchum's character asks Paladin if he returned to the valley; he says, "Just once."

Why do I mention this episode? I saw it again today.

^

I was just watching an episode of the old Roger Moore TV series The Saint, and I was surprised to hear a familiar voice.

5-4-3-2-1, Thunderbirds are GO!

I recognized the voice of Peter Dyneley, who voiced Jeff Tracy, the leader of International Rescue in the 1960s-era Gerry Anderson TV show The Thunderbirds. In this episode of The Saint, Dyneley was playing bad guy Nat Grendel, but he played other characters in later episodes of the show.

It was strange to hear Jeff Tracy's voice boom out of that every-man face.
